Industrial Polishing and Grinding opened its doors for business over 10 years ago in a small shop in Red Lion, PA were Ralph Schaffer had previously operated his own family metal finishing business for over 25 years. All parts produced by Ralph were all done by hand, by his hand and later cleaned in a kitchen style sink by his wife Betty.
They did this back breaking work year after year in old school fashion living the American dream for more years then Ralph cares to remember. Industrial Polishing and Grinding purchased the business from Ralph in 1995 helping him on his way to a well-deserved retirement.
Although I.P.G. picked-up were Ralph left off, with labor intensive type work, we the current owners, with an extensive knowledge of metal finishing of our own, had a different vision. Before long we out grew the old shop and moved into a 26,000 sq. ft. building located in York, PA.
A lot has changed since that time, with I.P.G. employing over 50 employees and having expanded our markets from highly polished aluminum motorcycle parts to complex high-grade stainless steel pharmaceutical valves. Although we look quite different, with robots and automated buffing and cleaning equipment we still occasionally do some handcrafted work and Ralph still drops by form time to time to talk about fishing and have a free cup of coffee.
